HYPNOTHERAPY AND PAIN CONTROL & RELIEF

Hypnotherapy, NLP and EFT can all be highly effective in relieving and controlling pain for certain conditions and illnesses. Pain control can work in 3 ways:

1) Relaxation, when people are in pain, their muscles can become tense which can exacerbate the pain – hypnotherapy can help relax this.

2) Sensory Alteration, our bodies send signals that are interpreted and perceived as pain within our mind. Hypnotherapy can help change the interpretation of the pain to a point where it can be switched off or reduced to a more manageable level.

3) Distraction, by focusing on something else, either external or to sensations in another part of your body you can use hypnosis to reduce the attention you pay to the pain with some effective pain management.

Some conditions where hypnotherapy is effective include:

  • Dentistry
  • Irritable bowel syndrome
  • Childbirth
  • Minor surgical procedures
  • Tinnitus
  • Arthritic joint pain
  • Cysts and warts – the shrinking of
  • Viral herpes & HPV (human papillomavirus) – controlling of infection

However a correct diagnosis must be obtained by a medical professional before considering hypnotherapy, NLP or the use of EFT to ensure that all the correct and appropriate medical examinations and treatments have taken place.

Self Hypnosis

Self hypnosis is a pleasant, safe and often much more effective alternative to medication such as tranquillisers and painkillers. It allows you to rejuvenate your mind and body leading to a greater sense of well being. It is also non-toxic and side-effect free.

Self hypnosis is useful for a range of conditions and habits including:

  • Stopping unwanted habits such as smoking
  • Managing stress and anxiety
  • Increased concentration
  • Improved sleeping and relaxation
  • Improved self-confidence, self-esteem and motivation
  • Improved performance such as for athletic or artistic activities
  • Achieving goals i.e. weight loss, exam success/nerves or for a driving tests

We all experience trance-like states several times a day, everyday, although we do not usually call it hypnosis. For example have you become absorbed in your thoughts while driving and missed a turning? Or become totally engrossed in a book and “suddenly” it’s 2 hours later? This is a trance or hypnotic state and is exactly the same state as self-hypnosis.

Hypnosis and hypnotherapy can be described as a state of mind in which suggestions are acted upon more powerfully than is possible under more normal conditions. By learning self-hypnosis you can utilise your natural abilities, inner strengths and potentials for achieving your desired state; and some freedom pain with pain management.
